Seminar Final Project
By Shae Rocco
Addendum is a series of iconic household objects that contain quotes from highly visible artists. These objects primarily represented women's role and value in society, based on an associated era--as spouse, mother, and caretaker. The slow progress juxtaposes the progressive words, broadening our concept of what it means to be equal and the process to achieve equality. The intention of this project is to instigate a conversation around the difficulties of unlearning deep-rooted societal discrimination. With the use of deliberate and weighted quotes written on these iconic objects, there is an addendum of past strength and continued growth. By re-purposing powerful iconic objects of the past with powerful word of the current future, this body of work demonstrates a continuous need to question ourselves and deepen our understanding of inequality.
The collection of white monochromatic work is to be displayed on podiums in vitrines and also be free standings.
